Ofcom’s latest News Consumption report demonstrates the ever-growing influence of social media on young people. News consumption for 12-15 year olds is focused on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with ITV and BBC relegated to fourth and fifth place.

However TV is still considered to be more important, more than twice as accurate, and almost twice as trustworthy as social media!

For all the fear of social media over consumption and its potential for bad influence on a new generation, perhaps growing up with its nuances means they will be most able to deal with the mix of media available and its varied value.
