It's a fantastic milestone for anyone to reach, but even greater when you're a high school student aiming for better gun control in America. Emma Gonzalez, the face of the most recent push for peace after yet another school shooting surpassed the NRA and its spokesperson's figures on Twitter. Whilst a million followers won't mean immediate change, it's a big step towards building consistent awareness. Once the media hype is over, it will be interesting to see if Emma and her fellow students can activate and organise their followings to create further sustained mainstream/traditional media coverage, as that is the only likely way to affect policy change.
